AMERICA'S INDUSTRIAL HERITAGE

POSTAGE STAMP SERIES AND SOUVENIR FOLIO

A postal series celebrating places that helped transform the United States from a young, upstart nation to a global industrial power. Stylistically and in terms of composition, they are heavily influenced by modernist stamp designs of the 1950s and 60s and feature a typeface meant to evoke those commonly seen at the turn of the 20th century. In addition to a vector rendering of the stamp’s subject, each also features meticulous renderings of items that made the places famous.

The accompanying souvenir folio carries forward the design elements used in the stamps, with a vintaged photograph of the site used for the cover and an enlarged version of the site rendering used as the inside background. Biographical information on the notable personality associated with the site can be found on the inside left, while details about the site itself is located on the inside right. Along with a strip of stamps, the folio also includes a do-it-yourself paper model of the subject site adapted from the original rendering.
